The Calgary Stampede is a fantastic attraction for tourists and locals to celebrate their cowboy roots. However, like any large-scale event, it brings significant challenges, including a substantial increase in exploitation and trafficking. The Calgary Stampede, unfortunately, is no exception. Large events like the Stampede can create an environment where vulnerable individuals, especially women, are at higher risk of being exploited. The influx of visitors and heightened festivities often lead to increased demand for commercial sex, making it easier for traffickers to operate and exploit those who are already in precarious situations. This period is particularly dangerous for women who are caught in the sex industry, as the opportunities for exploitation multiply, and their safety becomes even more compromised. We recognize these heightened risks at HER Victory and are committed to intensifying our outreach efforts during the Stampede. Our goal is to provide immediate support and resources to these women, ensuring they have access to the help they need. This year, we plan an evening event to reach out directly to those affected.
