Volunteering with women who are actively dealing with addiction, domestic violence, sexual exploitation, and trauma can be immensely rewarding. Still, it's important to be aware of the intensity and potential challenges involved. These women are often facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and the work can be emotionally demanding.
It's crucial to approach this volunteer work with compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude. You'll likely hear stories of deep pain and struggle, and you may witness challenging behaviors or situations. We will ensure you are not alone in this work. You'll be part of a team that includes other volunteers, staff members, and mental health professionals.
Volunteering in this capacity can also be incredibly meaningful. You have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of these women, offering them support, hope, and a sense of dignity and worth. Your presence and compassion can be a source of strength and encouragement for them as they navigate their journey towards healing and recovery.
We have opportunities to volunteer onsite (during the week), assist at our quarterly events (evenings and weekends), lead or join a HER outreach team, help with projects off site and remotely or be apart of join our on call volunteer list for special projects.
